A Real Family Affair

DALLAS…It was a real “Family Affair” for the 391st Composite Squadron Civil Air Patrol Dallas as three members of the Jovicich family all received promotions during the Promotions and Awards ceremony at the Squadron’s Headquarters, Dallas Business Jet at Dallas Love Field.

Promoted to Cadet Airman were John A. Jovicich and his sister Katherine K. Jovicich.  Their father Stan A. John Jovicich was promoted to Captain.  Captain John Jovicich is the 391st  Composite Squadron Finance Officer.  Also, during ceremonies Cadet Technical Sargent William Mahoney was promoted to Cadet/ Master Sargent, and Airman 1st Class Cadet Zachery D. Holub was promoted to Cadet Senior Airman.  Senior Member Alexandra Beaurline was promoted to Flight Officer.  Senior Member Pete Gabardi was promoted to Captain, and 2d Lieutenant Juan Garcia was promoted to 1st Lieutenant.

Lt. Colonel Bob Sides, Squadron Commander of the 391st also presented CAP Pilot Wings to Captain Pete Gabardi, 1st Lieutenant Juan Garcia and 2nd Lieutenant Mark Holub.  Captain Tamara L. Griffith was presented with a “Commander’s Accommodation” award as well.  Colonel Sides later commented as to how “gratified and pleased he was, by the great turnout and participation of family and friends” for the promotion and awards ceremonies.

The CIVIL AIR PATROL is the auxiliary of the United States Air Force with Three primary missions aerospace education, cadet programs and emergency services.  CAP handles over 90%  of inland search and rescue missions, saving approximately 75 lives each year.  CAP members are usually the first on the scene sending digital satellite images of damage around the world within seconds after arrival.  CAP provides disaster relief and emergency services following natural and man made disasters, including such events as 9/11, Hurricane Katrina, Texas and Oklahoma wildfires, tornadoes in the South and flooding in the Central U.S.CAP members also fly counterdrug reconnaissance and teach Cadet and Aerospace Programs.
