Recognition, Recognition that's what it is all about

Dallas-The Civil Air Patrol's Texas Wing, Group III 391st Composite Squadron  based at Dallas Love Field, was the recipient of an Outstanding Assistance Award at the Unit Level,  presented during a recent regular monday night meeting.  1st Lt Sandra  Locascio of the Texas Wing Group II 295th  Composite "Thunderbolt"  Squadron presented the award to the 391st Commanding Officer senior member Lt. Col Bobby Sides.  In accepting the award, Lt. Col Sides reminded members who were present that, "Recognition is the paycheck we receive each time the squadron or an individual in the squadron is recognized for a job well done" 


In this case 1st Lt Ron Kratz, 1st Lt Juan Gsrcia, 1st Lt Gary Rock and 2nd Lt Mark Holb were the officers who participated in the McKinney Flight Fest exercise held at McKinney Municipal Airport.  The McKinney Flight Fest was an opportunity for new Civil Air Patrol cadets to take orientation rides in the 391st Cessna 172 aircraft and become more familiar with the mission of Civil Air Patrol.  It also gave pilots flight time to polish their navigational skills, as well. 


Civil Air Patrol, the official auxiliary of the United States Air Force, is a non-profit organization with more than 61,000 members nationwide, operating a fleet of 550 aircraft.  CAP in its' Air Force auliliary role, performs 90 percent of all continental  US inland search and rescue missions as tasked by the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center and was credited by the AFRCC with saving 54 lives in Fiscal 2011.  Its' volunteers also perform Homeland Security, disaster relief and drug intervention missions at the request of Federal, State and local agencies.


CAP received the World Peace Prize in 2011 and has been performing missions for America for over 70 years.  Congress has nominated the service to receive the Congressional medal in recognition of its' wartime service.  CAP also participates in Wreaths Across America an  initiative to remember, honor and teach about the sacrifices of  US military veterans.  For more information visit http://www.gocivilairpatrol.com/ or CAPvolunteers.gov.com for more information or contact
